Text Messaging Patients in PnC

Text messaging a patient from within PnC is a quick and convenient way to communicate with patients. Patients can opt-out from receiving text messages through their MyUHS account.

  1. Review PnC Registration to determine if the patient has text messaging enabled.
    1. Note this step is important.  If messaging is disabled no error message will show.  The message simply will not send.

  2. Text messages can be launched in three areas of PnC by clicking on the phone icon
    1. PnC Schedule - Select Patient appointment, the icon is on the left pane
    2. PnC Chart - Chart Summary, next to mobile phone number in Registration information
    3. PnC Registration - Reg Summary, next to mobile phone number in Registration information
  3. Click on the phone icon and select the appropriate message from the drop down menu.

  4. Click "send"
  5. The message is received within 1-2 minutes.
  6. Past Messages send within the last seven days can be viewed in the same window
    1. If a message was sent to a mobile phone that has text messaging disabled the message will NOT appear in the list.
