Course Proposal - Which course proposals must be reviewed at the campus level?

The following course proposals must be reviewed at the campus level:

  • New courses
  • Course discontinuations
  • Changes in course content: course number, credits, crosslist status, topics status, repeatability, grading system, prerequisites, course component types, published course description, course designations (including gen ed, graduate attribute etc.), subject, and/or title
Before being reviewed at the campus level, the proposal must be approved by the department/program that houses the course’s subject listing and by the school/college approval committee.  If other academic units are affected, they must also have the opportunity to review the proposal.

Note: In the past, each of the four divisional committees conducted course reviews for courses in their division.  Beginning in 2014, a university curriculum committee comprised of faculty and instructional academic staff from each of the four divisions will conduct all course reviews, regardless of division.
