EMS Seems to Hang on the RemoteApp or Remote Desktop

Sometimes, EMS may appear to hang on a person's workstation. Usually this is because there is a modal window (a Windows windo that appears and only allows input or activity in that window) behind the main EMS window

Question

Why is the EMS Desktop Application hanging on my computer?

Scope

EMS on Remote App provided by the School of Veterinary Medicine

Required Information

  • The user must have EMS access on RemoteApp or Remote Desktop

Resolution

  1. Work with an SVM IT Engineer (contact the SVM IT Help Desk if you are not an IT worker) to force-quit your EMS session
  2. Launch EMS again...
  3. Once EMS launches, perform the following functions:

    1. Open the settings menu and choose "Reset Window Coordinates"

      Choose Settings - Reset Window Coordinates in EMS

  4. To prevent this from ever happening again, perform the following function

    1. Choose Settings - Preferences

    2. Select the "Do Not Store Window Coordinates" checkbox, and then click "OK"
