WRAP: Special Database Codes
This document describes the special database codes found in the WRAP Database. To ensure consistent documentation with data entry, data codes must be used to signify missing or incomplete data
Purpose
This SOP serves as a guide WRAP coordinators and data entry staff. Missing and incomplete data must be identified and coded uniformly to ensure documentation, data entry, and data analysis consistency. When missing or incomplete data is identified, the data codes below should be written into the applicable section of the codebook by WRAP coordinators. WRAP data entry staff should ensure accuracy and can approach WRAP coordinators with any questions.
Data Codes
- 888
Data not valid. This includes due to tester error or if a test was started and not finished (the participant abandoned the test). Please review if CQV is needed.
- Example: Participant completes 4 trials of AVLT. The 5th trial would be marked '888'.
- Example: Tester fails to administer trial 5 of AVLT.
- Example: Tester fails to start stopwatch until 30 seconds have passed during CFL.
Note: An explanatory comment should be entered by tester on BOC describing the reason for the tester error or abandonment.
- Example: Participant completes 4 trials of AVLT. The 5th trial would be marked '888'.
- 999
No data obtained. Data is missing This includes if a participant decline a test, or a test did not happen.
- Example: Participant declines to complete Logical Memory
- Example: Tester stops testing after a test as participant is distressed. The rest of the battery would be marked as "999."
Note: An explanatory comment should be entered by tester on BOC describing the reason the data was not collected. - Special Example:(B12 can have a value of 999, so missing data is 9999)
- Example: Participant declines to complete Logical Memory
Historical Data Codes
- 777
Data is not back yet. Information was requested but not yet returned (IQs)
- 666
Information under Review (CDR)
*Please note: 777 and 666 are retired WRAP Database Codes (they are no longer utilized in WRAP's OpenClinica database (or the WRAP data sets)
Cases of Questionable Validity (CQV)
Some scenarios require further review to determine if the data collected is valid. The CQV is a form used to document uncertain interpretability of results in all or part of a WRAP appointment for reasons other than suspected dementia/MCI. This includes effort/motivation, affect, illness, administration errors, and major disturbances. Please review the CQV SOP for more information.
