Recording Teams Meeting
How to record a Teams Meeting
To start your recording click on the three dot menu item within your Teams meeting and select “Start Recording”
Everyone in the meeting will be alerted that the recording has started and you will see a red circle to the left of the meeting duration indicating that it is being recorded. If you do not see the red circle your meeting isn’t being recorded.
When you are ready to stop the recording click on the three dots again and select “Stop Recording”
Once you stop the recording it will show up in the Conversation for the meeting
When you first stop the recording and view it in the Conversation it will state that it is saving the recording. This process can take as long as the duration of the recording.
You can also access the recording in Teams after the meeting has ended by clicking on chat (seen below) and finding the meeting conversation on the left list of chat conversations. '
Once it is finished the link will change to a small preview with the duration of the recording displayed
By default, anyone who logged into Teams and is in the meeting has access to the recording from the conversation panel. If you need to share it with others click on the three dots within the recording preview and select Share.
If you want anyone with a NetID to be able to view the recording you can click Share on the window that pops up. If you want to do something different with the security/sharing settings click on the three dots and select Manage Permissions in Microsoft Stream.
On this screen you can set permissions for specific people, download the video, or delete it. In the middle tile you can search for people within UW and either add them so they can view the video or make them an owner where they can also set permissions, download, or delete the file. People added will not receive an email. Make sure you click Apply at the middle top of the screen for the change to take effect.
Once you have added everyone you can click on the Share button on the bottom right. This will give you a link you can share with everyone who has permission to view. If they have not been added to the permissions list the link will not work for them.
