Web Hosting - CDN and Proxy Use
It is imperative that you coordinate with DoIT Web Hosting if you are using a and CDN / proxy with external services, such as CloudFlare, CloudFront, etc.
For customers who are adopting CDN services like CloudFront (AWS) or CloudFlare, and do not coordinate with us will have the logs showing the CDN IP ranges and not the visitor’s IP address.
This will cause issues with analytics, and prevents the ability to block traffic for specific visitors and risks blocking CloudFront or CloudFlare’s access to a customer’s website.
For customers who are adopting CDN services like CloudFront (AWS) or CloudFlare, we must configure our web servers to log the visitor’s IP address, not the CDN’s. This allows us to block traffic for specific visitors without blocking all of CloudFront or CloudFlare’s access to a customer’s website.
For use on our platform it will required of you to provide:
- The correct X-Forwarded-For (or a similar) header from the CDN/Proxy provider used to identify the original IP address of a client.
- Inform us of the their source IP addresses and/or ranges to be trusted in our configuration.
