KB User's Guide - Documents Tab - TinyMCE Accessibility Checker

This document provides information on the TinyMCE editor's accessibility checker and how it checks for and fixes any possible issues within a document.

Launching the Accessibility Checker

The TinyMCE editor comes with a built in accessibility checker that scans the current working document for any potential accessibility issues. You can manually trigger this scan by clicking the Accessibility Checker button TinyMCE editor toolbar accessibility checker icon in the editor toolbar. This will open a popup window which will show potential issues and steps to fix them.

The accessibility checker also runs when you choose to publish a document. If any issues are detected, you’ll be returned to the editor and prompted to review them in the Accessibility Checker modal. If no issues are found, the publish process continues and you can submit the document.

Resolving Reported Issues

Some issues can be resolved directly in the popup window. In the example below, an image is missing alt text. Enter the appropriate text and click Repair to fix the issue.

Other issues must be fixed directly in the editor. In the example below, text in the document body doesn’t meet accessible color‑contrast standards. Update the text color in the editor to a more appropriate value, then rerun the accessibility checker to confirm the issue is resolved.

You can use the up and down arrows in the popup window to move between multiple issues in a document. For more details about a specific accessibility problem, click the question mark icon to open documentation for that issue.
