WiscWeb - Image only carousel page element
The image only carousel allows for display of several images in a rotating format. This option is only intended for images, and doesn’t allow for text, a caption, or a heading for the image.
Overview
The image only carousel is a responsive photo slideshow that allows for navigating between different images.
This page element is not to be confused with the Image and Content Carousel or the Hero Carousel.
Features
- Available for one, two, and three column layouts
- Ability to specify height for slideshow
- Displays well in both desktop and mobile
- Optional setting to specify where each image should link
- Ability to add multiple images to the carousel at the same time
Use cases
- Intended for display of just images (no text)
- Great for displaying sponsor logos
- Slideshow of photos from an event
Best practices
For the best experience, please avoid adding multiple columns with carousels in the same row.
If one image height does not display the best results for your carousel, please try different image heights.
Test your page load time after publishing a page with a carousel. Adding too many images or multiple carousels may result in a slow page load and cause a poor user experience.
Considerations
- Maximum height of images is 680px
- Note: The width of the images in the carousel is variable, so there is no max-width.
- Note: The "max-height" is more about how images will be displayed. It is still a good idea to upload larger images (1.5 or double size) so that WordPress will scale them down and generate the "large" size that is used here.
- Image slideshow height defaults to 400px
- Maximum number of images: 20 (Please keep in mind that adding many large images will slow down your page load time and cause a poor user experience)
- Consider using the Image Gallery page element for larger groups of images.
