UW Credit Union Account Transfer Procedure
If your organization has an account with UW Credit Union, please review their account transfer procedure:
*If you bank with another financial institution other than UW Credit Union, please reach out to your bank's Business and Specialized Service unit for more information on required documentation.
UW Credit Union requires documentation of the following:
- IRS EIN/TIN confirmation letter
- Verified address of RSO
- Account holders - There is a minimum of 2 account holders and a maximum of 4. Advisors can be designated as account holders, but at least one account holder should be a student.
- Copy of the RSO Bylaws and/or Constitution.
- Be sure the constitution includes the name of the organization as written in the bank account and EIN documents. If you need to change your constitution, you must follow the procedure outlined by the Center for Leadership & Involvement.
- Meeting minutes from when elections took place. Minutes should state full legal names of all students that had prior access, and full legal names of new account holders written as First & Last Name.
- Ex: Lauren Devine and Kira Stewart are the new signers on the bank account. Michael States and Bucky Badger were the previous account holders.
- Meeting minutes must also include the name of the organization as written in the constitution, bank account, and EIN documents. DO NOT use abbreviations or nicknames of your RSO name.
- Memo from the existing account holders with their full legal names that provides a notice to the UWCU of the account holder changes.
- A letter from your Faculty Advisor (or from Student Life & Engagement Manager, Carlie Wiseley), placed on Law School letterhead, which includes:
- Stating that you are the advisor of the RSO
- Who the signers will be and what their positions are (Treasurer, President, etc.)
- That the advisor authorizes the new UWCU account holders (use full names)
- Sign and Date
Please refer to the UW Credit Union Organizations Account site for more information and to schedule an appointment. Note: The timeline for scheduling an account transfer is 2-4 weeks.
