Elevator

Unit 1

The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) occupies Unit 1 of the Computer Sciences building. 

To access the elevator, enter through the accessible doors facing 1210 W Dayton Street. They are doors S05, S06, S07 and S08.

Follow the signs toward the Onsite Help Desk. The elevator is to the right, across from the Onsite Help Desk.

Single-user ADA Accessible Toilet Rooms

Unit 1

Two single-user ADA accessible toilet rooms are located on the first floor of Unit 1. They are located near the Onsite Help Desk.

They are Room 1152A and Room 1152.

Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan

For assistance in developing a personal emergency evacuation plan, employees should contact the DoIT Divisional Disability Representative (DDR) at doithrmedical@doit.wisc.edu.

AED Defibrillator & First Aid Supplies

An AED defibrillator and first aid supplies are located in the main lobby facing 1210 W Dayton Street. The AED and first aid supplies are hanging on the wall to the right of the Unit 3 doors.

Unit 1- Floors 2 and 3

  • First aid kits are located in the hallway closest to each of the stairwells on floors 2 and 3.

Unit 2 - Basement

  • First aid supplies are located by the stairwell across from room B207.

If you notice that first aid supplies are missing or need to be refilled, please email building.manager@doit.wisc.edu.

Building Access

To request keys or building access for a staff member, please email building.manager@doit.wisc.edu and provide the following:

  • Their first and last name,
  • The first 6 numbers under the magnetic stripe on the back of their UW Wiscard,
  • And the building access needed.

You will receive a reply confirming that the request was received and that access has been granted.

If a staff member has left your department or unit, you can also email building.manager@doit.wisc.edu to have the keys collected or their access removed.

Deliveries and Mail

Deliveries

Amazon, FedEx, Staples, Shop UW , and UPS orders addressed to Computer Sciences, 1210 W Dayton Street will be received at the building's loading dock and delivered to the recipient's office.

Interdepartmental Mail

  • Interdepartmental Mail is picked up from and delivered to Computer Sciences Monday through Friday.
  • There is an outgoing campus mail slot in the hallway of Unit 1 between 2112 and the stairwell door.
  • Outgoing Interdepartmental Mail Includes items in an approved and addressed Interdepartmental envelope.

United States (U.S.) Postal Mail

  • U.S. Postal Mail is picked up from and delivered to Computer Sciences Monday through Friday.
  • There is an outgoing U.S. Postal Service (USPS) slot in the hallway of Unit 1 between 2112 and the stairwell door.
  • Outgoing U.S. Postal Mail Includes addressed envelopes and packages with postage or Department Billing Slips.

Assigned Mailboxes

Staff with an office or designated workspace in the following locations have a labeled mailbox:

  • Unit 1, floors 2 and 3
  • Unit 2, floor 3

The mailboxes are located on the 2nd floor of Unit 1 near Room 2112 and Room 2118.

  • Last names A-L: Mailboxes are located between the Human Resources Office (room 2118) and the Division Office (room 2112).
  • Last names L-Z: Mailboxes are located between the Division Office (room 2112) and the stairwell door.
  • Staff working in Unit 2, Floor 3: Mailboxes are closest to the stairwell door.

Need a mailbox?

Please send an email to the Internal Operations team if:

  • You were overlooked and do not have a mailbox.
  • You would like to have a mailbox at Computer Sciences, but do not have an assigned office or workstation. There is space!

Hoteling spaces are available for individuals who need temporary office or work space. They are intended for short-term use by DoIT staff and campus partners.

To reserve a hoteling space during available hours, please email internal-operations-team@office365.wisc.edu 1-2 business days in advance and provide the following information:

  • First and last name
  • Date(s) you would like to reserve the space
  • Work start and end time

You will receive an email reply and calendar invitation confirming the room has been reserved.

SWAP (Surplus With A Purpose)

SWAP accepts reusable, repairable, or salvageable surplus property from UW-Madison divisions, departments, and offices.

If you have questions about whether your property is suitable for redistribution through SWAP, contact swap@bussvc.wisc.edu.

Items suitable for redistribution through SWAP should be brought to the labeled area in Room B327 in the basement of the Computer Sciences.

Work Order Requests

If you notice something in the building that needs attention or repair, please email building.manager@doit.wisc.edu.

  • Elevator
  • Heating or cooling concerns
  • Pest or rodent control
  • Bathroom maintenance
  • Electrical work, replace light bulbs in attached building fixtures
  • Room projects, office remodels

Please provide the following:

     Location of concern – Please include a room number and picture if possible.
     Describe the area of concern or item in need of attention or repair.
     Best person to contact if questions or more information is needed.

You will receive a reply confirming that the message was received and a work order request was submitted.
