How to clear browser cache and cookies
If you are having trouble logging into an application or accessing a link to our KB that was sent via email, try Clearing Browser Cache and Cookies prior to submitting a ticket.

New Research Applications Support Portal - coming July 21, 2025
What is the new Research Applications Support Portal?
The new Research Applications Support Portal combines all support for SMPH enterprise research applications and research computing in one place.
Why are we moving?
The move is part of the SMPH Informatics and Information Technology (IIT) centralization project to create a single portal for all support called 'SMPH Navigator'.
When is the move happening?
The planned go-live for the Research Applications Support Portal is July 21st, 2025. Read-only access to the ticketing system that is being replaced will be provided to users until August 26, 2025.

Changes in the new portal
- PHI is allowed (system is HIPAA compliant)
- No longer required to submit requests with PHI to separate secure email
- Due to HIPAA compliance - email cannot contain Summary or Description fields (see below)
- Users should log into the portal to view outstanding requests and to reply to requests
- Login with your primary email address
- UW-Madison users will use NetID login + Duo Authentication
- UW Health email users will need to set up a password
- External users will need to use an acceptable email domain and will set up a password. If you (UW-Madison users) are collaborating with an external user and they have issues logging in, contact our support team to ensure their email domain is allowed.

- URLs for the old portal will redirect you to the new portal as the team works on updating them
- If you have URLs, support email addresses, including the secure address, etc. on resources owned/managed by your department, center, institute, research group, you are responsible for updating them as the new information is made available
- Note: The secure email address will be retired because the new portal is HIPAA compliant and PHI is allowed within the system.
- Tickets from the previous support portal will become read-only to reference them for a limited time
