The meeting was called to order at 1:00 p.m.

The minutes of October 30 were approved.

General Reports

Secretary of the Academic Staff (SOAS) Mallory Musolf reported that the SOAS office will have a donation bin outside of 272 Bascom Hall at the November and December Assembly meetings. All donations will be directed to the Open Seat Food Pantry (UW student food pantry).

Liaison Reports

Richard Barajas reported on the recent ASEC listening session. Discussion during the session primarily focused on Assembly procedures.

Guests: Katrina Olson and Nicole Senter, members of the Administrative Collaboration Group

Members of the Administrative Collaboration Group discussed concerns and opportunities related to Workday, including strategies for improving the system and training to support end users. ASEC recommended meeting with Adam Paulick, associate vice chancellor and executive director for enterprise applications, to explore a potential partnership to address Workday issues.

Guest: Noah Reif, Academic Staff Assembly Representative for District 619

Assembly Representative Reif expressed interest in collaborating with ASEC to draft a resolution supporting student governance efforts promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus. ASEC member Albert Muniz offered to work on a draft with Assembly Representative Reif.

Regarding the draft Regent Policy Document 20-25, Teaching Workload Policy (wisconsin.edu/regents/download/Proposal-to-Amend-RPD-20-25,-Teaching-Workload-Policy.pdf), OHR is assessing how the proposed changes may affect campus, including impacted employees. OHR is working in closely with Interim Provost John Zumbrunnen and the Universities of Wisconsin Administration (UWSA) throughout this process.

OHR published a webpage to centralize and simplify information about job loss or income loss, including layoffs. For more details, visit hr.wisc.edu/job-loss-or-income-loss/.

UWSA will have a new LinkedIn Learning contract for all Universities of Wisconsin institutions. UW-Madison’s current LinkedIn Learning contract ends on December 1 and will transition to the UWSA contract at that time. LinkedIn Learning will also integrate with Workday. A formal announcement will be shared with employees later this month.

Business

  • Draft Act 15 Resolution

ASEC reviewed the draft resolution. The Assembly will have an opportunity to provide feedback before it is considered for vote at the December Assembly meeting.

  • Draft Regent Policy Document 20-25, Teaching Workload Policy

ASEC discussed the draft policy. The public comment period is open through November 9. ASEC Chair Alissa Ewer asked members to submit comments by the deadline.

  • December Assembly Agenda

ASEC reviewed the December Assembly agenda and will vote on it at their next meeting on November 20.
