Windows 8 - Uninstall a Program
Method 1
-
To begin, access the Start screen.
-
If you have Windows 8, you can do this one of two ways: 1) press the Windows key on your keyboard; or 2) hover the cursor in the bottom left corner of the screen until a preview image of the Start screen appears, and then click on the image to launch the Start screen.
-
If you have Windows 8.1, you can access the Start screen by either pressing the Windows key on your keyboard or clicking on the Start icon (identical to the symbol on the Windows key) in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
-
-
Locate the application you would like to uninstall, and then right-click on its icon. A checkmark will appear in the right corner to indicate that an application has been selected.
-
After selecting an application, a toolbar should appear at the bottom of the screen. Select Uninstall from that menu.

-
From the Programs and Features window that then opens, ensure that the correct application is highlighted before pressing Uninstall.

Method 2
-
To begin, access the Start Context menu.
- If you have Windows 8, hover the cursor in the bottom left corner of the screen until a small preview image of the Start screen appears; then right-click on that image to open the Start Context menu.
- If you have Windows 8.1, right-click on the Start icon in the lower left-hand corner in order to launch the Start Context menu.
-
Select Programs and Features.

-
Select an application before clicking Uninstall to remove it.

If you are unsuccessful with the methods listed above, try Microsoft's removal tool to further troubleshoot an application that will not uninstall (useful for uninstalling Office).
