Mac - Changing a Local Account Password

This document explains how to change a local user account password from Mac OS X.
  1. Open System Preferences and select Accounts.

System Preferences window

  1. Select your user account in the My Account section, and then click Change Password...

Account settings

  1. Enter your current password into the Old Password field and the updated password into the New Password field. Reenter the new password into the Verify field, and then click Change Password.
