Parallels - Installing Parallels 10 Desktop

This document provides the steps for installing Parallels Desktop 10 on a Mac. Once installed, Parallels can be used to create a virtual machine on which you can install another Operating System, such as Windows.

  1. Double-click the Parallels Desktop 10 installation file with the .dmg extension that you received. Once you do this, it will be mounted to Finder.

  2. Then double-click the Install icon.

  3. Enter your Mac user password to begin installation.

  4. If you are upgrading to Parallels Desktop 10 from a previous version, you will be prompted to replace the old version. Click Replace to remove your current version of Parallels Desktop and install Parallels Desktop 10.

    Click Replace
  5. When the installation is complete, you can create a new virtual machine and begin installing Windows 8. For instructions, see the following article: Parallels - Installing Windows 8 on Parallels Desktop 10.
