WiscIT - Known Issue - Emails not sending from web client after error "A task was cancelled."

This document explains the task cancelled known issue in the WiscIT Cherwell Client

The Issue

If a text editing window such as an email editor is opened in WiscIT, the window will be closed after minutes and prompt the user with the message "A task was cancelled.". If the "Send Email" button is clicked after the "A task was cancelled" window is closed, the email will not be sent.

Workaround(s)

Once the "A task was cancelled." message appears, there are a few potential workarounds:

  • Copy and paste the message
    1. Close the "A task was cancelled." popup
    2. Copy the text of the message
    3. Close the email editor
    4. Open a new email editor and paste the text
  • Compose the message in another text editor, and then paste it into Cherwell
