Chaz - SMS TMAS (People Counters)

This document covers how Chazen uses SMS TMAS.

Chazen utilizes a service called SMS TMAS for tracking foot traffic at the museums.

There are 2 separate hardware units (each with their own sets of sensors) that communicate back to a hosted web app at  https://www.smssoftware.net/tms/#/.  Adrienne Rich has been my main contact and she has credentials to log into the web service.

The STC (base station) devices must be set up with a static IP and requires a firewall rule allowing inbound traffic from 209.29.131.53 on 502/TCP.

  • STC-200U is located in L159 in the Chazen Building.  This unit is hard wired to the infrared counter units that are located in the entryways of the Chazen Building.

  • STC-200W is located at the security desk in the Chazen building.  This is the unit that communicates with the wireless break-beam sensors throughout the building.  The wireless units are battery powered and are required to be in proximity to this base station.  This is not a WiFi device, and this STC needs an ethernet up-link to connect to the network.
