WiscWeb - Wordfence errors

This document will walk you through common Wordfence errors, what they mean, and how to work around them.

403 Forbidden Error

The error reads: "403 Forbidden. Why am I seeing this? Your access to this site was blocked by Wordfence, a security provider, who protects sites from malicious activity." 

This error will show up when the IP address you are accessing the site from has been blocked by Wordfence.

If you receive this error, please follow the steps under "Resolution" below.

503: Access limited by site owner error

The WordFence 503 error reads "Your access to this site has been limited by the site owner."

The error reads "Your access to this site has been limited by the site owner." This error will show up when the IP address you are accessing the site from has been blocked by Wordfence.

If you receive this error, please follow the steps under "Resolution" below.

Resolution

Submit a request to the WiscWeb team to alert us of this issue: help@doit.wisc.edu

Please include:

  • Screenshot of the error you are receiving
  • Your IP address (lookup your IP address on whatismyip.com)
  • A full description of what you were doing when the issue occurred
