The following articles are intended to get you started with your new devices and show best practices of how they can be used to enhance your learning environment both in and out of the classroom.

Knowing The Hardware

Being familiar with the various hardware that comes with your iPad is important for being able to use your device effectively. Following these articles will give you basic knowledge about each component, beginning this familiarization process.

Setting Up Your Devices

The iPad and Apple Pencil you are getting are not configured. You will need to enter your own information and credentials to be able to use it. Remember that you will need to create an Apple ID to complete this process. If you have an Apple ID already, you can use the same one for your iPad. Follow this information to setup your devices.

Working With Applications

Applications, or Apps, are software that your iPad uses to help you accomplish different tasks. Each app can exploit different capabilities of your iPad. There are millions of such Apps, and new ones are coming every day. Some apps are free but most need to be purchased. The UW-Madison has licenses for some Microsoft apps, that as a faculty, student or staff of the university you can get for free. OneNote is one of such apps and it is the recommended app for EMBA iPad Initiative. Follow the links below to learn how install it and use it. The information provided here is specific for OneNote and the Microsoft Office suite, but remember that you can use the same or similar techniques working with other apps in your iPad.

Connecting To Your Online Resources

Canvas is a site used for hosting many course materials as well as some general resources for EMBA students. This section will give you information about accessing Canvas efficiently in order to facilitate easy access to any resources you need.

Setting Up Your Personal Learning Environment

After you have set up your device, added Apps and performed other configurations, you will need to know how to integrate the technology into your own learning environment. The following articles will help you accomplish this.
