AT - How to use the New AMX Panels in Grainger Rooms: Introductory and Input

This page explains how to use new poduim panels in Grainger rooms


1. Introduction Page:

When you first enter a room, the system will be powered off. In order to turn it on, go to the AMX panel. Initially, it will show you a screen like this:

To power the system on, click “Touch Here to Begin.” The panel will display a warm-up screen as it prepares the equipment for your use:

2. Input Source:

2.1 Select Input Source:

At this point, you have the capability to project information from a selection of devices. The most generally used input is the podium computer, however, you have the ability to display information through the room’s document camera, HDMI or VGA connected laptop, and a wirelessly connected Apple/Android device. The following information will give you a breakdown of each of these capabilities and how to access them on the AMX panel.

 HDMIHDMI source provided by the HDMI cord on the podium. By connecting this to a laptop, you will have access to both the projector and the sound controlled throughout the room.
 Podium PCPodium computer allows for the projector to display content and sound through the computer already set up within the room. 
 Doc CamDocument Camera allows a user to project non-digital content onto the projector screen. 
 VGAVGA source allows a user to display content through a device connected by the VGA cord on the podium.
 Apple Wireless inputThe Apple wireless input allows you to use one Apple OS or IOS device to connect and display content onto the projector screen within the classroom.
 Windows Wireless optionThe Windows wireless option allows a user to use one Windows or Android device to connect and display content onto the projector screen within the classroom. Please note that not all Android devices are supported by this option.

Current selected source will be displayed on the panel:

 Current: HDMI cordWhen the input source is connected to the HDMI cord on the podium, it will turn yellow like this. 
Current: Podium PCPodium computer is selected as the current input source.
 Current: Document CameraDocument camera is selected as the current input source. 
 Current: VGA cordThe input source is connected to the VGA cord on the podium.
Current: Apple and IOS WirelessApple or IOS device connected to the Apple TV inside the podium is selected as the current input source.
 Current: Windows and Android WirelessWindow or Android device connected to the Microsoft Wireless Adapter inside the podium is selected as the current input source. Please note that not all Android devices are supported by this option.

Some rooms may not have HDMI options or any of the two wireless options as input source. The buttons for these functionality are shown in grey and there would be no feedback as shown below:

At the center of the panel, there is a "
Picture Mute" button. This button will allow you to temporarily hide display of any input source that is connected to the podium on the screen. To hide a display press and hold the button. The button will begin to flash between yellow and red, indicating that picture mute is enabled. To disable the picture mute, press and hold the button again until the picture turns red. You will now be displaying your image again.

 Picture mute: Inactive, display picture Picture Mute: Active, no picture display 
 Picture Mute: Inactive Picture Mute: Active Press the button to display or hide display 

Some rooms may also have the following image auto adjusting button. This is used to centering or auto adjusting the color of the display delivered by a projector:

 Image Auto Adjust: Active Image Auto Adjust: Active 
 Image Auto Adjust: Inactive Image Auto Adjust: Active Press the button to display or hide display 

2.2 Reset Wireless device connection:

In the case of a device not correctly displaying , the “Wireless Reset” button will allow you to restart and troubleshoot the wireless devices to be able to attempt connecting again.

 Steps Illustration Explain
 1 Wireless Reset: Inactive To enable this reset button, Press and Hold this button for 3 seconds. This "Pressing and Holding" operation will lead you to step 2
 2 Wireless Reset: Active The button will begin to flash between the red and a green in the sequence shown on the left. At this stage, this "Wireless Reset" button will stop receiving any command, whether you touch or press it.
 3 Wireless Reset: Complete and Inactive After 10 seconds, you will hear a beep from the AMX Panel. This indicates that the reset is complete, and you can attempt to connect your device again. The button will default to its original display.
