Printing - Add a Network Printer (macOS)
Instructions for mapping a network printer on your Mac.
- Launch System Preferences/Printers and Scanners and click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax... button
- Press the Control key and click in the blank space on the menu bar and choose Customize Toolbar
- Drag the Advanced tab from the options palette to the toolbar next to Windows. Then click Done.
- Next, click the toolbar’s new Advanced icon then set Type as Windows Printer via Spoolss
- Populate the URL field with the FQDN of the printer you are trying to connect to

- Populate the Name field with name of your departmental printer or "WSB_Secure"
- From the Use drop down bar, choose the proper print driver for the printer you are connecting to
- For WSB_Secure, choose Select Software, and then select the [Link for document 153537 is unavailable at this time]
- For Departmental Printers, use the Generic PCL Printer driver. If you run into issues, contact ITS Support for assistance
- If the printer you are adding supports double-sided printing (duplexing) enable the Duplexer option
- If the printer you are adding supports double-sided printing (duplexing) enable the Duplexer option
- You've now added the printer to your Mac
- When you print a document you will be prompted for credentials to authenticate to the print server
- Choose Connect as Registered User
- Enter your NetID credentials, but prepend "AD\" before your NetID in the Name field

If you authenticated properly, your job will be processed by the network printer

Optional: Spool a test print job from your Mac

On the Printers System Preferences page, click the button to open the Printer Queue...

Then click Print Test Page from the Printer menu
