AT - How to use the AV Panel in Grainger Hall

These instructions are pertinent for the following rooms in Grainger Hall:
1140, 1170, 1175, 1180, 1185, 1190, 1195, 1270, 1280, 2120, 2165, 2170, 2270, 2280, 2335, 2339, 2510, 2520

Grainger hall has a unique AV system in all the classrooms. The system has been improved and simplify in the past few months
to make the user's experience more effective and reliable. To keep up with technology, we have added wireless capability to all
rooms that have updated podiums.

The following is a detail information on the use of the AV panel, also called the AMX panel. This panel that sits in top of the 
podium in every room with AV technology, is the equipment that allows you to switch inputs to the projector, mute and change the 
output sound to the room speaker. It is also the device that you need to use to turn on or off all the equipment in the system, except
the computer, that is always on.

The first page you see on he panel when the system is off, is the "Touch Here to Begin" screen. We have eliminated the passcode 
page in all the updated panels to make it easy on the instructors. When you touch the "Touch Here to Begin" button you will be
turning on the system and after the warm up period of 10 to 20 seconds, you will be ready to make an input selection.

Introductory Page:

When you first enter a room, the system will be powered off. In order to turn it on, go to the AMX panel. Initially, it will show you a screen like this:

To power the system on, click “Touch Here to Begin.” The panel will display a warm-up screen as it prepares the equipment for your use, as shown below:

When it has warmed up, the panel will show you this input selection screen:

Input Page:

Select Input Source:

At this point, you have the capability to project information from a selection of devices. The most generally used input is the podium computer, however, you have the ability to display information through the room’s document camera, HDMI or VGA connected laptop, and a wirelessly connected Apple/Android device. The following information will give you a breakdown of each of these capabilities and how to access them on the AMX panel.

	HDMI source provided by the HDMI cord on the podium. By connecting this to a laptop, you will have access to both the projector and the sound controlled throughout the room.
	Podium computer allows for the projector to display content and sound through the computer already set up within the room.
	Document Camera allows a user to project non-digital content onto the projector screen.
	VGA source allows a user to display content through a device connected by the VGA cord on the podium.
	The Apple Wireless input allows you to use one Apple OS or IOS device to connect and display content onto the projector screen within the classroom.
	The Windows wireless option allows a user to use one Windows or Android device to connect and display content onto the projector screen within the classroom. Please note that not all Android devices are supported by this option.

Current selected source will be displayed on the panel:

	Source connected to the HDMI cord on the podium is selected as current input source.
	Podium computer is selected as current input source.
	Document camera is selected as current input source
	Source connected to the VGA cord on the podium is selected as current input source.
	Apple or IOS device connected to the Apple TV inside the podium is selected as current input source.
	Window or Android device connected to the Microsoft Wireless Adapter inside the podium is selected as current input source. Please note that not all Android devices are supported by this option.

Some rooms may not have HDMI options or any of the two wireless options as input source. The buttons for these functionality are shown in grey and there would be no feedback as shown below:

	HDMI cord input is unavailable.
	Apple & IOS wireless connection is unavailable.
	Windows & Android Wireless is unavailable.
	Wireless reset is unavailable.

At the center of the panel, there is a "Picture Mute" button. This button will allow a user to temporarily hide display of any input source that is connected to the podium on the screen. To hide display, press and hold the button, then the button will started to flash between yellow and red, indicating that picture mute is enabled. To disable the picture mute, a user and press and hold the button again, then the button will become red, indicating the picture mute is disabled.

Reset Wireless device connection:

In the case of a device not correctly displaying wirelessly, the “Wireless Reset” button will allow you to restart and troubleshoot the wireless devices to be able to attempt connecting again.

Steps	Illustration	Explain
1		To enable this reset button, Press and Hold for 3 seconds. This "Pressing and Holding" operation will lead you to step 2
2		The button will begin to flash between the red and a green in the sequence shown on the left. At this stage, this "Wireless Reset" button will stop receiving any command whether you touch or press it
3		After 10 seconds, you will hear a beep from the AMX Panel. This indicates that the reset is complete, and you can attempt to connect your device again. The reset button will retrieve its default display, as shown on the left

Sound system:

Mic Sound System:

On the left side of the AMX panel, you will see the “Mic Volume.” This controls the volume emitting from the mic system within the room, either through a handheld or lapel. To increase the volume, press and hold the “Up” button. To decrease the volume, press and hold the “Down” button. When correctly pressed, the buttons will turn green, like this:

Inactive	Press and Hold: Active

To mute the volume emitted from the mic, press the “Mute” button. When the mic is muted, this button will flash between red and yellow, as seen here:

Inactive (Unmuted)	Press (Muted)

To end the mute, press the button once more. The mic will now return to the volume it was set at prior to being muted.

Input Sound System:

This controls the sound coming from the selected input source. To increase the volume, press and hold the “Up” button. To decrease the button, press and hold the “Down” button. Just like the mic volume, the buttons will turn green when correctly pressed. Like this:  

Inactive	Press and Hold: Active

To mute the volume emitted from the input's, press and hold the “Mute” button. Just like the mic volume, this button will flash between red and yellow, as seen here:

    

To end the mute, press the button once more. The mic will now return to the volume it was set at prior to being muted.

Screen Control and Project Picture Adjust

There are two buttons for controlling screen. Some rooms may have to use a physical buttons to control the screen. For rooms that has a screen controlled by panels on the podium panels, there will be two buttons on the bottom of the panel screen. One is "Screen Up" and another is "Screen Down." To lift a screen, press and hold "Screen Up" buttons. To drop a screen, press and hold "Screen Down" buttons. Some rooms may have a "Auto Image Adjust" button on the AMX panel. This button is used to adjust projector picture automatically. Press and Hold the "Screen Up" button for a while to lift the screen. Press and Hold the "Screen Down" button for a while to drop the screen  Press and Hold to allow a projector adjust image automatically.

Turning off the AMX system:

When finished in the room, please turn off the AMX system by finding the “System Off” button on the bottom right-hand corner of the AMX panel. By pressing this button, you will be taken to a screen ensuring you wish to turn off the system.

NOTE: Press this button will not log off your computer automatically. A user must log out of the podium computer by click "Log Off" on the desktop of the computer For rooms that are controlled by the AMX panel, when you turn off the system, the projector screen will automatically lift up. To turn off the system, press "System Off." You will be prompted with a screen asking if you are sure you would like to turn the system off.

To turn the system off, press "Yes." To go back to the input page, press "No." When correctly pressed, the button will turn green. If you pressed "Yes" correctly, you will be prompted with the following screen:

The system is powering down.

NOTE: If you stay on this page for too long, the AMX system will automatically turn off.
