ObservEd - Getting Started

This document explains how to gain access to ObservED at UW-Madison.

What is ObservEd?

ObservEd allows authorized staff to view real-time academic data sourced from the Canvas LMS for designated students, including assignment grades and performance trends, assignment due dates, course participation data, course syllabi and course schedules.

This comprehensive view enables advisors and academic support teams to proactively identify candidates for early supportive intervention.

How to Get Started With ObservEd

User access to ObservEd is limited to a small population of advisors and academic support specialists in UW Athletics, and is facilitated by integration with Canvas.

Questions and Support 

  • ObservEd is a teaching and learning tool centrally supported by the Learn@UW team, but only available to a limited user population in UW Athletics. For technical support questions, end users work with the Learn@UW ObservEd Admin or CidiLabs support resources.

  • Some browser extensions or plug-ins may interfere with Learn@UW tools. If a Learn@UW tool is not operating as expected, please try these steps: General Troubleshooting for Learn@UW Tools
