Web Hosting - Secure FTP Publishing

Below, you’ll find information on configuring your client for Secure FTP publishing with DoIT Shared Hosting.

Please Note:

Requirements

To establish a Secure FTP connection, you’ll need three items:

  • Secure FTP Hostname: This is the domain name of the site you’re connecting to. For example, mysite.wisc.edu.
  • User ID: This is a previously provided via email and can viewed in the Control Panel.
  • Password: This is also provided via email and can be updated in the Control Panel.

If you’re prompted for a port number, ensure it’s port 22 (Regular FTP uses port 21, which is not secure and unsupported).

If you’re experiencing difficulties connecting via Secure FTP please submit a support request and include: the domain name to which, your connecting, User ID, your IP address and date and time of the attempted connecrtion.

NOTE: It’s possible to create multiple secondary Secure FTP logins. To request additional Secure FTP logins, email webhosting@doit.wisc.edu with a brief explanation of their functionality and access requirements.
