Accessing SMPH Navigator
SMPH Navigator is an Atlassian, HIPPA-complaint platform restricted to UW-Madison students, staff, and faculty.
Please note: External users are limited to those from approved domains.
First Time Signing In
Step 1. Visit navigator.med.wisc.edu to get started.

You will see this login page:

Step 2. Enter your primary email address and hit "next".
This might be your NetID@wisc.edu, first.lastname@wisc.edu, or loginID@department.wisc.edu address - it's your default "sent from" email.

Step 3. You will be prompted to continue with Atlassian account.
SMPH Navigator is powered by Atlassian's Jira Platform - this "Atlassian account" is how Single Sign On (SSO) is set up.

Step 4. Continue Logging in on the Jira Screen.

You can also choose to login with Google or Microsoft using your NetID.
**Please note, if you have already created an Atlassian Account with your primary buisness email (e.g. you have used Jira, Trello or another Atlassian product before), you will not see these steps.

Step 5. Check your email, and enter the code.
You will receive an email from Jira, and will need to enter that code, as prompted.

Step 6. Arrive at the SMPH Navigator Portals Screen
If login to the portal is successful, you will see the portal screen below. There are different portals for services offered, such as User Support, Cybersecurity, Business Analytics, SMPH Facilities, etc.

SMPH Employees - Accessing SMPH Navigator
Step 1: Go to the Portal
Visit the SMPH Navigator portal at https://navigator.med.wisc.edu/

Step 2. Enter your primary email address and hit "next".
This might be your NetID@wisc.edu or first.lastname@wisc.edu address - it's your default "sent from" email.

Step 3: You will be prompted to sign in with your NetID.

Step 4: Authenticate NetID login with Duo

Step 5: Click Continue with Atlassian account

If login to the portal is successful, you will see the portal screen below. There are different portals for services offered, such as User Support, Cybersecurity, Business Analytics, SMPH Facilities, etc.

All requests submitted by or including the signed in user can be tracked
Once logged in, you can submit new requests, view existing ones, and communicate with the support team. Click on your profile in the upper right corner, and select "Requests".

How to get to the portal from an auto-generated email
This is an example of an automated email response from Navigator. Clicking on View Request in the email will route you to the Navigator Portal and requires your primary email address and login with NetID and Password.

Finding Primary Email Address
You need to know your primary email address to sign in to SMPH Navigator.
To determine what your primary email address is, you can go to the Wisc Admin portal: https://wiscmail.wisc.edu/account-admin/index.php?action=o365-addrs
Once you login with your NetID, the email address listed as “Primary” is your primary email address.

Troubleshooting
- If you can't log in, please make sure you're using your primary email address
- If you see an access denied message, contact us at navigatorinfo@med.wisc.edu or help@med.wisc.edu.
- Local support phone numbers can be found here: https://iit.med.wisc.edu/help/#department-help-desks
- Check your spam folder if you're not receiving email notifications.
