ClearPass - Finding Devices
This document explains how to look up a device in ClearPass.
How to Search for a Device in ClearPass
- Open the ClearPass Policy Manager: https://clearpass.uwnet.wisc.edu/.
- If your ClearPass is already configured, continue to step 3. Otherwise, configure your ClearPass as instructed in this document: ClearPass - Initial Configuration.
- Go to the Configuration tab in the bottom left corner.
- Select Endpoints
- Make sure that the Filter is set to "MAC Address" and that the comparator is set to "contains."
- Enter the customer's MAC address into the text box to the right of the comparator.

- If no device appears, the MAC address given may be incorrect. Remove the last few characters from the MAC address to then see if a device appears.

- Adding the "*" character at the end of a MAC address counts as a wildcard. W will search for all MAC addresses that contain the given address. If you cannot find an address, try removing a couple of characters and adding the wildcard character.
