Help Desk - Enabling/Unlocking Compromised Account

This document outlines what to do after an account has been re-enabled through the NetID Enable/Disable tool, but it looks disabled in the WiscMail admin tool.

To re-enable the account go to the Wisc Account Administration site then:

  1. Search for the specific account
  2. Expand "Account Administration" on the left side
  3. Click on "Security"
  4. Determine the user's affiliation and verify their identity according to instructions in Help Desk - NetID and NetID Password Reset Procedures prior to unlocking their account in Wisc Account Administration.
  5. Then click "Unlock Account", assuming you have already confirmed their identity

The account should now be active (Still will have expected 24 hour wait-time before being able to access email again). If there is a repeated pattern of accounts not being enabled correctly escalate the case to the Microsoft 365 Team.
