Grants vs. GSSF

The Associated Students of Madison has two great funding sources for Registered Student Organizations:
- ASM Grants (travel, operations, open-fund, events)
- General Student Services Fund
These two funding sources can often be confused with each other and you may find that one will meet your needs more than the other.

| The GSSF is used for large-scale programming open to the entire student body and that provides educational benefits to the overall campus and is approved and monitored by the Student Services Finance Committee. These organizations may have as many as 5-10 programs overall and consistently provide some form of programming throughout the entire academic year (some even in summer)! Due to the large scale nature of these organizations, they also receive student wages as approved by the SSFC. ASM Grants would be for organizations looking for more one-time expenses. These come from a pot of approved funds and is approved and administered by the Grant Allocations Committee. These might be more suited for organizations doing more small-scale programming or events/travel that will only happen on a more limited bases (i.e. once per year/semester). These funds can range in purpose from events, operations, and travel purchases. For questions about ASM Grants, please email the Grant Allocations Committee (GAC) Chair. |
