Remote access to CAE Linux Computers

How to connect to CAE Linux machines from different OS's

CAE Linux computers are available for remote access, both with a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and Terminal only. 

 
Please note, some of the Windows-only apps are available on XenApp (https://kb.wisc.edu/cae/28565) and others are available for download.  Please see the following for a list of software and how it is available: https://www.cae.wisc.edu/software/ 
 

GUI:

Multi-Operating System (Web Browser Based)

Terminal:

Windows: Windows 10 and 11 include a built-in ssh client. Open the Terminal app, then type in "ssh <YourNetID>@best-tux.cae.wisc.edu". For instructions using the PuTTY client, see https://kb.wisc.edu/cae/80385
Mac & Linux: Simply run command "ssh <YourNetID>@best-tux.cae.wisc.edu" in a terminal window
