Faculty Candidate Interviews
- In a shift from previous practice, Dean Gillaspy along with members of her senior leadership team will meet with all candidates interviewing for faculty positions in CALS.
- The candidate should be prepared to discuss their expertise and interest in the position, and then engage in a brief Q&A with those present.
- The dean or her designate will follow-up with the S&S committee chair to share an assessment.
- The Senior Associate Dean is willing to meet with candidates to discuss the tenure process and various supports for research and teaching. For those positions with Extension funding, the Associate Dean of Extension and Outreach can join to share more about the connection to the Division of Extension. Katie Datka can assist with scheduling this separate 30-minute slot.
- Meeting topics will include: 1) an overview of CALS, campus, and campus resources, 2) information on the tenure process, 3) information on Hatch/McIntire-Stennis funds, and 4) for Extension positions, an overview of the Extension/campus relationship.
- When you or your department representative request a faculty candidate meeting with the Dean's Office, please include the following information:
- Stage of recruitment (first visit, second visit, etc.)
- Potential meeting dates and times
- Candidate names
- PVL number
- Topics you'd like covered that are not mentioned in #5 above (if none, please state this)
- Attach: PVL and candidate CVs
- Please request meetings with the Dean's Office as soon as possible to accommodate scheduling. Tara Darga (tara.darga@wisc.edu) is the current contact for these requests.
