Salesforce is Records and Lists

A discussion of two fundamental concepts in understanding Salesforce.

The origins of Salesforce can be traced back to a once very common office tool - the Rolodex.  For those who have not seen this, a Rolodex was a desktop holder of cards, a little bit larger than the size of a business card.  Each Rolodex card contained a person's name, contact information and notes about the person or sometimes just a business card stapled to the Rolodex card.  The cards were held in place by two round metal rails so that the user could quickly flip forward and back through the cards to find a person.   The round rails are the source of the "Rolo" in Rolodex. Cards were typically in alphabetical order, but some people invented the own organizing principles as well.
