When invited to join an Azure Labs environment you will receive an email similar to the below. The email will contain the password for logging into the VM the first time, be sure to note it down. 

Click on the 'Register for the lab >' button You will be asked to sign into a Microsoft account. 

Be sure to use the email account that the invite was sent to (this should be your @wisc account.)

Once you've logged in to the Microsoft account you will be taken to labs.azure.com and should see a screen like this: 

To turn on the VM press the slider next to the word 'Stopped' The process of starting the VM may take up to 5 minutes, so be sure to budget time appropriately 

Once the VM is started you will be able to connect to the VM The slider will turn blue and the will change to 'Running' when the VM is up and running

*SPECIAL NOTE FOR MAC USERS* You will need to go to the AppStore and download 'Microsoft Remote Desktop' before you complete the next step. The remote desktop app is free on the AppStore. Once installed you will be able to follow the next steps. 

Click the RDP (connect) button in the lower right: 

This is start a download of a .rdp file. Open the file to begin the remote session. You may receive a warning that the publisher cannot be identified, Click the 'Connect' button. 

You will be asked to enter a password here, this is the password you received in your invitation. 

You may receive a warning that the machine cannot be verified. Click 'Yes' in the bottom right. 

At this point the VM will open and login. You are now connected to your lab computer. 

Special Notes: You are only provisioned 10 hours of use of this machine for the semester by default. When done with the machine ensure that you disconnect from it. To disconnect: Press the Windows button in the lower left, press power, and Disconnect. Once disconnected, press the slider to turn the machine from 'Running' to 'Stopped' To access your VM after you've closed the tab, simply return to: https://labs.azure.com/virtualmachines and you will be presented with a list of the Lab VMs you have been given access to.
