Identifying your Operating System on a Mac
Here are the steps to identifying your current operating system on a Mac
An Operating System is like the theater that all your software runs within. Keeping your Operating System within a range of systems currently receiving security updates is important to device security, your security and the security of campus.
To find your current Apple Operating System:
On a MacBook, iMac, Mac Mini or Mac Studio:
- Login to your Mac
- Select the Apple icon in the upper left
- Select About This Mac
- A box with the OS the device is running along with serial number will appear
On an iPhone, Apple Watch or iPad:
- Go to Settings
- Select General
- Select About
- Locate iOS, WatchOS or iPadOS version
