June 1 - SoE Department Folder Migrations

Beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, MERIT will migrate SoE network department folders (S: and N: drives) to a new server called Maple. There will be no access to department folders during the migration. Access will be restored by Wednesday morning, 7 a.m. Dean Winger will post a status update at the conclusion of the migration.

After the migration, you will see the following:

1. No change - If you login to a Windows workstation, your S: and N: drive will automatically connect to the new location.
2. Some change - If you connect to your department folder from a Macintosh, you will need to connect to smb://maple/SOE_Departments/departmentname rather than smb://soe-b8/SOE_Departments/departmentname.
3. Some change - If you connect to your home folder from a remote or wireless network, you will need to replace "soe-b8" with "maple" in the path name.

• For Windows, use path \\maple.ad.education.wisc.edu\SOE_Departments/departmentname
• For Macintosh, use path smb://maple.ad.education.wisc.edu/SOE_Departments/departmentname

In coordination with the migration, MERIT staff will share links to updated knowledgebase pages with detailed connection information Your local technology consultants, and the MERIT Help Desk, 5-4773, will also be available to assist with questions.
