Apple OS 10.6 Support Ends

Apple has stopped releasing service updates for OS 10.6. MERIT, along with IT staff through the school, have been identifying remaining OS 10.6 systems and implementing OS upgrades, hardware upgrades or firewalling systems to comply with UW-Madison's policy on electronic devices connected to the campus network.

UW-Madison's policy on electronic devices connected to the campus network requires systems run up-to-date and vendor-supported operating systems or be firewalled off or removed from the network.

If you are currently running OS 10.6 or older on a computer you use to connect to resources on the campus network, please notify the MERIT Help Desk at helpdesk@education.wisc.edu or 5-4773. A consultant will follow up on options for upgrading or firewalling your system ASAP.
