Departmental VPN Transition (SoE)
The WiscVPN service is transitioning from the Cisco AnyConnect Client to the Palo Alto GlobalProtect client. This means that the university will eventually cease supporting the Cisco Anyconnect VPN client.
This article explains the vpn client transition from Cisco Anyconnect to GlobalProtect.
What This Means For School of Education Users:
Our current departmental VPN (Cisco Anyconnect) will continue working through this fall semester. Our departmental share drives for the School of Education (SoE) are on a separate network that GlobalProtect (the new VPN) will not yet connect to. We will send notice to all SoE users when this function has been enabled and the transition needs to be made. This will likely not be until late in the fall semester if not until spring.
What This Means For Other Users:
The university has released a statement here: KB Article
Cisco Anyconnect will continue to be supported through the fall for dynamic address users. If you require a static IP address you will require migration to GlobalProtect by August 30th, 2017 at 5:00AM
