InterPro - Badges - Digital Badges
This page describes what a badge is and how to obtain it.
What Are Digital Badges?
Digital badges are digital credentials that recognize skills, knowledge, and accomplishments you have earned. UW-Madison badges are issued through Parchment Badges in Canvas. Each badge contains verifiable information about what you learned, who issued the badge, and the requirements you completed to earn it.
What Do Digital Badges Communicate?
Digital badges can be printed or shared through social media and provide the following information:
- The date the badge was earned
- Who issued the badge
- The knowledge, skills, and abilities the learner has acquired
- A description of the assessments the learner had to complete to earn the badge
How Can You Obtain Your Badge?
Note: Badges become available after all badge requirements have been completed and verified.
- Go to Parchment Digital Badges.
- If you haven't created an account yet, click on Create Account.
- Enter the email address you used to register for your InterPro course.
- Click Continue. A verification code will be sent to your email address.
- Complete your account setup by filling in the required fields.
- Once you're logged in, you'll be able to view your Backpack.
What is the Parchment Digital Badges Backpack?
You can store, organize, and share your digital badges in your Backpack.

How Can You Update Your Account?
You can manage your email addresses in your Parchment account:
- Click on your name in the upper-right corner
- Go to Account Settings
- Add or update your email addresses
