Submitting the CRU Application in ARROW

How to Submit the CRU Application in ARROW

What additional information needs to be provided for studies planning to use the CRU?

When preparing a new IRB application for a study that will use the CRU, formerly known as CTRC, please upload a copy of the CRU application in the Submit activity form. The Submit activity form is visible when clicking the Submit link on the left-hand side of the submission workspace. The Submit activity form includes instructions on where to upload the CRU application. Do NOT upload the CRU application within the IRB application itself.

What happens to the CRU application after the IRB application is submitted in ARROW?

After the study team clicks submit, the submission will be automatically routed to the CRU for its review. CRU staff will download the completed CRU application from the submission’s workspace in ARROW. After the CRU logs its decision in ARROW, the submission will then be automatically forwarded to the HS-IRBs office.

What if a study requires review by both the PRMC and the CRU?

If a study team indicates in the initial review application that the study will use CRU resources and also requires PRMC review, the application will be automatically routed by ARROW to both the PRMC and CRU when the application is submitted in ARROW. Both the PRMC and the CRU will need to log a decision about the study before the application is forwarded on to the HS-IRBs office. For more information about the PRMC process, please see the ARROW Cancer Center help docs on the HS-IRBs website.

What if a study requires review by both an ICTR Scientific Review Committee (SRC) and the CRU?

If a study team indicates in the initial review application that the study will use CRU resources and also requires review by an ICTR SRC, the application will be automatically routed by ARROW to both the ICTR SRC and CRU when the application is submitted in ARROW. Both the ICTR SRC and the CRU will need to log a decision about the study before the application is forwarded on to the HS-IRBs office.

What happens if the study team does not upload a copy of the CRU application in to ARROW?

If the study team indicates in the IRB application that the CRU will be used but does not upload the CRU application to the Submit activity form, the submission will still be automatically forwarded to the CRU for its review. The CRU will then request the CRU application from the study team outside of ARROW.

What if the CRU is being added to a study via change of protocol?

When preparing a change of protocol to add the CRU, please upload the CRU application in the Submit activity form (just as with an initial review application). The modified application will also need to be updated to reflect that the CRU will now be used.
