Damage Policy at the InfoLabs

Below is the InfoLabs Damage Item Policy.

What happens when staff find damaged InfoLab items...

If an item is discovered damaged, the last patron who had the item checked out may receive a hold on their WebCheckout account until we are able to investigate the damage and determine a solution. The investigation may include reaching out to the patron via email to answer questions about the item, and internal. If the investigation deems a charge is not applicable, then we will remove the hold. If we determine the damage was caused by the patron a damage fine will be assessed. The invoice can be paid in person with a debit or credit card at College Computer Lab. Once paid, the hold will be removed.

The following are damages we will investigate and may charge for but are not limited to...

  • Cracked screen
  • Broken Lens
  • Missing keys (two or more)
  • External damage that affects usability of the item
  • Missing vital accessory to a kit (if the main item is missing a replacement fee may be assigned)
    • EX: if a tripod is missing from a video recording kit.
  • Damages due to neglect of the item (on a case by case base)
    • EX: Water damage

We reserve the right to make exceptions to this policy as needed on a case by case basis.
