This KB is designed for patrons and staff cutting posters at the College Library InfoLab (rm. 2250).
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare Your Work Area
- Ensure the work area is clear of any paper.
2. Position Your Poster
- Lay your poster on the cutter, making sure it is completely flat.
- Align the side of the poster with the ruler on the right side of the cutter.
- Align the top of the poster to cut at the BARE METAL, not the yellow ruler.
- Double-check that the poster is straight before cutting.
3. Make the Cut
- Firmly hold the poster in place to prevent shifting.
- Slide the blade at a swift pace to guarantee a clean cut.
4. Finishing Up
- Throw away the excess paper behind the edge.
- Move the blade to the far left to prepare the station for the next person.
Safety Tips
DO NOT place hands near the blade while cutting.
DO NOT attempt to cut multiple posters at once.
DO NOT force the blade if it resists—adjust and try again.
Following these steps will ensure a clean, professional cut while keeping you and the equipment safe. If you have any issues, ask a staff member for assistance!
