Pay-For-Print Troubleshooting
This document outlines some troubleshooting steps for printing issues while in the Infolabs.
Unable to Print
- Determine if it's a computer-specific issue or an issue with the Pay-For-Print service
- Computer Specific issue:
- Try printing on another computer
- If the print is successful, it's a computer-specific issue. Please notify lab staff if they're available
- Log into print.wisc.edu with your NetID to see if it loads correctly with a Wiscard balance. This is an indication that the service is not experiencing issues.
- Try printing on another computer
- Pay-For-Print Service outage
- If printing does not work on another computer, it's likely a service issue. Please notify lab staff if they're available.
- Check outages for PaperCut/Pay-For-Print.
- Computer Specific issue:
- If you are still experiencing issues, check KB for related troubleshooting info.
- If there are no KB documented solutions, please contact lab staff.

Hold for Authentication Error
Why this error is occurring?
- Either the NetID or Password was typed in or saved incorrectly.
What to do to Fix this Error?
- First, spot the error occurred by looking at the printer icon in the bottom right corner.

- Click into the icon. The following will appear.

- Click on the little reload button on the far right and a box will pop up. See the blue highlighted box.

- When the box pops up, make sure to type in the NetID and Password carefully.

Tip: Do not check the “Remember this password in my keychain” if you are not 100% sure the NetID and Password is correct.
- Make sure the printer icon at the bottom right does not look like it did, and then disappears quickly.
- Go over to the desired print release station and login with NetID and Password and release the print.
