Can I create my own list?

  • Yes, all staff can now create their own lists. Click here for instructions.
  • All new lists will create a "[name of list]@g-groups.wisc.edu" email address.

 

How do I edit a list for which I am an administrator?

 

I don't see my list in the list below

If you created a list and would like it included on this list below:

  • Contact the MERIT service desk.
  • Please provide the name of the list you would like to add.
  • They will provide you with some IT staff names to add to the list, as no mail receiving administrators. See the directions above to add them.

 

Are lists open for all to post to?

There are several different settings for posting to a list:

  • Distribution only: Only list administrators may post
  • Discussion group: list members may post
  • Open to the wisc.edu domain: anyone with a @wisc.edu email address may post
  • Open to all: anyone can post

 

Can anyone subscribe to a list?

  • Generally, no. While some lists do allow anyone to join, most lists are set up so that list owners must approve membership. Membership in some lists may be limited to committee, departmental, or unit members.
  • If you would like to join a list and are unsure who to contact, you can email the list owners listed below to request membership.
