Microsoft 365 - Introducing the new Outlook for Mac
Update: 1/31/22 | Beginning in mid-February with release 16.58, Microsoft Outlook for Mac, with the addition of Online Archive, Shared Mailboxes, Shared Calendars, and Delegation, will default to the "New Outlook" experience in the current channel for any users who have never tried the new experience or have tried and left the New Outlook. |
Requirements
Before you can use this version of Outlook, your MacOS and client version will need to meet the following requirements:
- MacOS version 10.14 (Mojave) and later.
- Outlook version based on update channel:
- 16.42 (20101102) and later for Current Channel.
- 16.40 (20073000) and later for Current Channel (Preview).
- 16.32 (19110306) and later for Beta Channel.
Enable/Disable new Outlook
Users will be switched into the new Outlook for Mac experience upon starting the client. Users can turn the toggle off to switch back to the legacy experience as desired by clicking on the "New Outlook" slider located next to the search function. If the slider does not appear, go to "Outlook" menu and uncheck New Outlook and restart Outlook. The feature update uses Microsoft sync technology and the updated experience offers an easily customizable experience that uses Microsoft Services to provide relevant suggestions and insights.
Are there features/settings that currently do not work within new Outlook
Yes. There are several features that are available in the current version of Outlook for Mac for Office 365 that aren't yet available in the new Outlook experience. Learn more.
If you experience issues within new Outlook interface
The new experience is fully supported, and users can reach out with support questions via Help > Contact Support.
Otherwise, disable new Outlook and switch back the legacy experience.
