Microsoft 365 - Getting Started with SharePoint Online
SharePoint Online is now enabled for all eligible users. Currently, we are only able to support Modern Site Templates and default configurations. We are not able to provide support for Sharepoint hub sites.

How do I access SharePoint Online?
- Log into Outlook on the web.
- Click the App Launcher located at top left of your browser window.
- Select SharePoint.
How do I get support for SharePoint Online?
Support for SharePoint Online is handled via the DoIT Help Desk at help@doit.wisc.edu. Administrative requests and technical issues will be escalated to the Microsoft 365 Admins on the Productivity and Collaborative Solutions (PCS) team as needed.
Are there any third party applications enabled/supported?
No
What can PCS (M365 Team) do in regards to SharePoint Online?
- Addressing account access questions or issues
- System level changes in response to vendor actions (Feature additions and removals)
- Site Storage quota adjustment requests
- Default Storage for SharePoint Sites: 25GB
- Maximum Storage for SharePoint Sites: 500GB
- Other fixes necessary for the security and availability of the service
What are Site Owners/Admins/Creators responsible for?
- Site Design
- Compliance concerns
- Workflows
- Site configuration
- Integration of third party applications
- Manage permissions for Sites or Libraries
How to Modify Alert Settings?
Please note that Modifying Alert settings can only be done by the owner of the document or the site.
- Login into SharePoint with NetID Credentials
- Go to the SharePoint site's document library
- Click on the Ellipses(...) > Click on Alert Me
- Add the users that need to be added
- Select how they are contacted, the frequency, and what will cause an alert
- Click "OK"
Can I send a link for "Anyone"?
Yes, but the link will expire in 30 days.
