L&S Diploma Information

This section explains what information will appear on an L&S undergraduate student's diploma.

Will my L&S major or majors appear on my diploma when I graduate?

A UW-Madison undergraduate diploma for L&S students lists only the degree title and not the major(s) earned.   A student's major information along with other academic credentials (e.g., certificates) will appear only on the student's official records and transcript.  See degree and diploma information for more details.

Having more than one major in L&S does not lead to multiple degrees.

  • If a student is completing a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in History and Economics, the degree on the student's diploma will be Bachelor of Science.
  • If a student is completing a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Psychology and Journalism, the degree on the student's diploma will be Bachelor of Arts-Journalism.
  • If a student is completing an Applied Mathematics, Engineering, and Physics special degree program and a Computer Science major, the degree on the student's diploma will be Bachelor of Science - Applied Mathematics, Engineering and Physics.
