AppleTV Instructions

AppleTV allows wireless connection from most Apple devices via AirPlay. Apple provides AirPlay instructions for the devices below.

MacOS iPhone, iPad, or iPod

Make sure the projector is ON and APPLE TV is selected on the control panel.

Device Name: BIOC-Rm B1144A-1499

You will be prompted to enter a 4-digit code to connect.

Once connected, you can adjust display resolution, screen mirroring or extended display, etc. as desired within your device's System Preferences/Settings.

HDMI 1 (HDMI and VGA Connections)

HDMI Connections

This connection is located at the desk in the southeast corner of the room near the projector control panel.

An HDMI cable is provided for use with the projector.

  1. Connect the HDMI cable to your laptop or device.
  2. Make sure the projector is ON and HDMI 1 is selected on the control panel.

Once connected you can adjust display resolution, screen mirroring or extended display, etc. as desired from the relevant System Preferences/Settings.

VGA Connections

There is a VGA to HDMI adapter attached to the HDMI cable located in the southeast corner of the room. To use this adapter, follow the instructions for HDMI 1 with the following additions:

  1. Connect the VGA and USB connections to your device.
  2. Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI input on the VGA to HDMI Adapter.

Presenter/Secondary TV Display

This screen mirrors the content displayed on the projector. This can allow the presenter to see what is displayed on the screen behind them. It also allows participants in the back of the room to see another view of the screen, which can be particularly helpful with certain desk layouts.

The screen is on a cart located in the northwest corner of the room.

  1. Ensure the screen is plugged into power and the ethernet connection is connected to the port on the back (west) wall.
    1. Please note that this screen will not work if connected to any of orange network ports.
  2. Press the power button located on the bottom middle of the screen.
    1. Once the display is on you can use the button to navigate through options such as power and input by clicking the button, or make selections by holding the button (example: click until Power is highlighted, then hold the button to turn the display off).
  3. The display should automatically select the correct input, but HDMI 2 is required to mirror the content from the projector.

Please make sure the display is turned off when you are done.

Cisco Conferencing Telephone

The Cisco Video Conference System is able to act as a telephone. The call will come through the room’s speakers and will accept any of the microphone inputs. The phone number for the room is displayed on the top left corner of the touch screen.

To place a call, press the Call button on the touch screen. You can then press the number button or the number pad button (see example below) to be able to enter a phone number. Use the standard campus Cisco VoIP - Dialing patterns like you would on a desk phone to place your call. Use the information from the Microphones/Speakers section to control speaker volume, muting, etc.

Cisco Video Conferencing

This Cisco Video Conferencing system supports Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, and Google Meet. There are multiple ways to join a meeting using the touch panel in the room.

Video Conferencing - Join a Cloud Meeting from a Cisco Conferencing System

Option 1: The Room was Invited to the Meeting Directly

If your meeting was scheduled by inviting the room to the meeting, a button should appear shortly before the meeting begins allowing you to directly join. This is the easiest method to join a video conference meeting.

Option 2: Manually Join a Meeting from the Room

You can also manually join a meeting. To do so, select the appropriate meeting type on the touch panel. Once prompted, you can enter the required meeting information (room number, password, etc.) or you can visit and provided links and invite the room to your meeting.

Microphones and Speakers

The volume dial controls the volume of the audio playing through the speakers in the room. The speakers will play any audio provided by one of the inputs available in for the projector.

You can mute the audio by pressing the Audio Mute button. Press the button again to turn the sound back on.

Lighting Controls

There are two sets of switches you can use to control the lights in the room. A smaller set of three switches is located near the entrance (entrance panel). A larger set of five switches is located in the southeast corner of the room near the storage room door (main panel). The main panel provides the most control over the lighting in the room.

The switches are identified below from left to right (switch 1 is on the left).

Switch 1 (Main Panel) OR Switch 3 (Entrance Panel)

This switch activates eight (8) of the lights on the north side of the room at ~40% brightness. This switch can be combined with Switch 2 – Main Panel OR Switch 2 – Entrance Panel to reach 100% brightness.

Switch 2 (Main Panel) OR Switch 2 (Entrance Panel)

This switch activates eight (8) of the lights on the north side of the room at ~60% brightness. This switch can be combined with Switch 1 – Main Panel OR Switch 3 – Entrance Panel to reach 100% brightness.

Switch 3 (Main Panel) OR Switch 1 (Entrance Panel)

This switch activates the light over the presenter desk, and the center light along the north wall at ~60% brightness.

Note: This switch is on a delay, the lights will remain on for 5 seconds when the light is turned off.

Switch 4 (Main Panel)

This switch activates the six (6) lights on the south side of the room at ~40% brightness. This includes the light over the presenter desk.

Switch 5 (Main Panel)

This switch activates five (5) of lights on the south side of the room at ~60% brightness. This does not include the light over the presenter desk.

Please make sure all lights are off when you leave the room.
