DoIT Shared Tools - Accessibility and Usability Information and Reporting

Shared Tools provides vended solutions. In collaboration with the Center for User Experience (UX), we identify accessibility and usability barriers. Then, we report issues to our vendors and advocate for improvements.

Reporting Accessibility Issues

To report an accessibility or usability barrier, email st-help@doit.wisc.edu. This will start a request with the Shared Tools team.

We will:

  • Confirm receipt of the request
  • Share any known workarounds or resources
  • Report the issue to the vendor
  • If possible, confirm when improvements are made

Accessibility and Usability Information by Vendor

For each vended solution, we list their accessibility programs, goals, and any known barriers.

Evaluations are performed when:

  • A new product is selected
  • After a major version upgrade
  • When significant user interface changes are made

Atlassian (Jira and Confluence)

Atlassian has an overview of their commitment to accessibility, a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT), and process for reporting accessibility concerns

Known usability and accessibility barriers for:

GitLab

GitLab has a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT). GitLab addresses usability and accessibility barriers using their request and bug process. These issues are labeled "product accessibility".

A digital accessibility evaluation of GitLab will be completed in 2024. We recently performed a major version upgrade. User feedback was used to improve the left sidebar design, navigation, and other features. Read more about the new interface.
