WiscVPN GlobalProtect HIP Compliance Level Check
Access Request
Your browser or operating system may ask for permission to "find and connect to devices on your local network."
- What to do: Click Allow or OK
- Why: This test pings an internal UW server to verify your VPN connection and WiscVPN GlobalProtect Host Information Profile (HIP) Compliance. If you block this access, the checks on this page will fail.
Scheduled Maintenance Window
These checks may temporarily report Fail or INVALID during routine maintenance on Tuesdays between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM Central Time (CT).
Service Accessibility Check
The Connected via HIP VPN check verifies that you are connected to WiscVPN and that the status service is running.
If your device fails the Connected via HIP VPN check, all remaining checks will show as INVALID.
Fix 'Connected via HIP VPN' Failures
- Open your GlobalProtect app and connect to WiscVPN - WiscVPN GlobalProtect (All OS) - Installing, Updating, Connecting, and Uninstalling
- Refresh this browser page to re-run the tests.
HIP Compliance Level
Below is your device's HIP security compliance level based on UW-Madison - IT - Endpoint Management and Security Policy Standards:
- Minimum Requirement: Your device must meet at least Low Compliance to avoid receiving compliance notifications on WiscVPN.
Fix Compliance Level Failures
Use WiscVPN GlobalProtect HIP Notification Compliance Check to determine why your device isn't meeting the Low Compliance level.
If you wish to meet Medium Compliance or High Compliance your device must also meet the following requirements:
- Drive Encryption must be enabled.
- OS Software Updates must meet the following requirements:
- Medium - All updates must be installed within 45 days.
- High - All updates must be installed within 15 days.
