Reminder: Important Action Required: Opening Summary Evaluations in PMDP (Step 1) for Performance Management Transition to Workday

This reminder is for SMPH (non-faculty) academic staff, university staff, limited appointees, and faculty members who supervise those employees. All supervisors responsible for conducting annual evaluations must open a 2025 Summary Evaluation for their employees in PMDP by May 31, 2025. Evaluations do not need to be completed by May 31 but must be initiated and saved. Please see the email message below for more information. Please read the email thoroughly due to a multiple step process with Workday implementation.

  • Purpose: To share information about processes required for the transition of the university’s performance management processes into Workday, as well as how those changes will impact FY25 Summary evaluations.
  • Action Required for “Step 1”: Open Annual Summary Evaluations in PMDP no later than May 31, 2025. Time period for fiscal year 2025 Summary Evaluations is July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025.   

Dear SMPH community:  

As we transition from our current performance review system, PMDP, to Workday Performance Management, we need your cooperation to ensure a smooth cutover. We have broken down this process into three steps: Open PMDP, Final closeout of PMDP, Start in Workday.  

Key action required now for “Open PMDP” (Step 1): Open 2025 Summary Evaluations in PMDP

  • Deadline: May 31, 2025
  • Action: All supervisors responsible for conducting annual evaluations for fiscal year 2025 (July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025) must open a Summary Evaluation for their employees in PMDP by May 31, 2025. Evaluations do not need to be completed by May 31 but must be initiated and saved.
    • Why: Access to initiate new items within PMDP will be locked due to the Workday transition. Supervisors and staff will only be able to edit/close reviews that are already open and view previously closed reviews.
  • Details: A separate message will be sent to supervisors of employees within probation to clarify any special considerations for completing these reviews. 

Where we are headed next:

  • Final closeout of PMDP (Step 2) – Supervisors must complete their final PMDP review by October 1, 2025. Additional reminders will be sent.
  • Start in Workday (Step 3) – Supervisors will be required to input expectations and goals from the FY25 PMDP into Workday by Oct. 31 in order to be set up in the platform for the first review cycle in Workday, the midpoint evaluation in January 2026. More information to be provided in the future, possibly in late July.
  • Note: the timelines for Step 2 and 3 will overlap.
