Browsers - Blocking Ads

Information about uBlock Origin ad blocker deployed to TS-supported devices.

To combat ad-based malware delivery, Technical Support deploys the uBlock Origin (uBO) ad blocker for commonly-used browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari.

How It Works

uBO lives in your browser's toolbar near the URL bar. Its exact appearance and location varies by browser, but generally it looks like this:

The number on the uBO icon indicates the number of ads and trackers it has blocked on the current page. In general, you should not notice a negative impact to your browsing experience. Most ads will be blocked, and pages should load somewhat faster.

Troubleshooting

In some cases, ad blockers can interfere with the intended function of a website. You can disable uBO for a single website by following the steps in Browsers - Disabling Ad Blocking for a Site.
